Ever since the first time he witnessed Sona tear Karthus to shreds with nothing but the sounds of her etwahl, Mordekaiser felt something stirring inside of his metal chest. Not love, of course. Nothing as weak or sentimental as that. But when he went out wreaking havoc on the poor, unsuspecting masses, it just didn’t seem as fulfilling as it used to. And the death wails of the damned rang hollow when he drew them out by himself. He knew that until he had Sona by his side, he would never be the malevolent terror that he was made to be. And after weeks of awkward shifting and fruitless throat clearing, he was finally ready to say so.
He decided to do it right before a Pentakill show when everyone was feeling their most bloodthirsty. There could be no better time. “Listen up! I’ve got something to say!” Morde said, jumping up on to the table with a loud clank. He extended his arm and pointed at Sona, making her stop short right before she chugged down her third, pre-show Elixir of Brilliance. “Sona, you are the deadliest, most metal woman I’ve ever met. I’ll never be satisfied until you agree to lead my armies by my side, and I won’t take no for an answer! So, will you join me, or be crushed?”
But instead of swooning at Mordekaiser impressive display of manliness the way Olaf said she would, Sona tossed the elixir over her shoulder and summoned her etwahl with a flick of her wrist. She gave him an evil grin before plucking a single string with her fingertip, sending a chilling note through the room. That is the moment Morde realized that he fucked up. He turned on his heel and jumped off of the table, running to retrieve his ax, but before he could take another step a blast of sound sent him flying across the room and into a wall. He landed on his helmet and groaned in pain as the multiple, upside-down Sonas danced around the room. She extended her arm, her fingers clenched and thumb pointing to the side before slowly, deliberately, turning it down.
She didn’t have to speak for the resounding “No” to ring through Morde’s skull. But at least this did confirm one other thing. It was definitely love.
